She is at home in the former silk and velvet city of Krefeld – yet famous in the USA. Claudia Pfeil loves to indulge in fabrics and play with colors and patterns. There are no limits to her imagination and creativity when new quilts are created with great attention to detail. Often using her own fabric collections, which the designer for home textiles designs herself and which are produced by the American company Island Batik.
“In my shop I only offer fabrics that appeal to my imagination and with which I can imagine a quilt.”
Creative Freedom with
the Longarm Quilting Machine
Quilting several layers of fabric with a simple sewing machine is time-consuming and exhausting. The Americans developed a machine on a track system that lets you run the needle freely over the fabric – for finer, more intricate freehand patterns. Claudia calls it flying freely like a bird over the stretched fabric. Three of those quilting machines from APQS (Link?)can be viewed in Claudia Pfeil’s gallery, tested in classes and after a basic course / driver’s license, rented by the hour.
